His father, Pat Mahomes Sr., was also a Christian but did not attend church regularly. Mahomes has said that his faith helps him cope with the challenges and pressures of being a professional athlete.

Patrick Mahomes is of mixed race. The NFL star’s father, is of African-American descent and his mother is Caucasian.

Mahomes was born on September 17, 1995, in Tyler, Texas, where he grew up with his younger brother Jackson and younger sister Mia.

His father was a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for six teams from 1992 to 2003. His mother was a homemaker who supported her son’s athletic pursuits.
