Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false as the man in the video is from Spain and not a Pakistani immigrant.

On performing a keyword search, we found a report on a Spanish media outlet titled ‘Spaniard deported after pushing a woman down the stairs of Paris metro’ dated May 5, 2021.

According to the Euro Weekly News report, ‘The video shows an aggressive man, allegedly from Spain, arguing heatedly at the top of the stairs of the Porte de la Chapelle station in Paris. The argument is believed to be over a mobile phone, which subsequently ended up smashing into the ground. The argument appears to have started when the man is talking on a mobile phone and the woman is upset with him, the woman then hits him and the individual responds by pushing her down the set of stairs entering into the Metro station.’

We also found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel with the title ‘French Cops Arrest Man That Pushed Woman Down Steps’. The description of the video mentioned that the suspect was arrested by police at a Roma camp in Osny, a commune in the north-western suburbs of the French capital, in the department of Val d’Oise.

It further stated that the woman sustained minor injuries.
