Another Five-Star Kentucky Commit Plans to Re-Open Recruitment After John Calipari Departure

Another one of Kentucky men’s basketball’s top recruits for the Class of 2024, Boogie Fland, plans to retract his national letter of intent from the Wildcats program and re-open his recruitment, On3 reported on Monday.

The five-star guard is now the fourth major recruit that will no longer play for Kentucky since coach John Calipari departed from the program to Arkansas last week. BYU coach Mark Pope will take over the program this upcoming season.

Fland originally committed to Kentucky on Oct. 20. Some of the programs he was recruited by include Indiana and Alabama. According to On3’s rankings, he is ranked No. 19 in the Class of 2024 and the top-ranked point guard in the class.

The three previous players who retracted their intent to Kentucky include five-star forward Jayden Quaintance, four-star forward Karter Knox and four-star center Somto Cyril. Kentucky freshman Aaron Bradshaw also announced he is entering the transfer portal.
