FA documents have revealed that Chelsea have extended two players’ contracts.

FA documents have revealed that Chelsea have extended two players’ contracts.

Chelsea have exercised options to extend Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk’s contracts, meaning both players will be at the club into their 30s.

FA documents revealed Fernandez has eight years left on his £180,000-a-week Blues deal which runs until 2032. Meanwhile, Mudryk has seven years on his £97,000-a-week deal until 2031.

It means that Fernandez will be 31 when his contract expires while Mudryk will be 30 at the end of his.

Both players signed for Chelsea last January, with Fernandez costing some £106.8million from Benfica and Mudryk joining for £88.5million from Shakhtar Donetsk.

It is unclear why Chelsea took the option to extend the deal given their is still so much time to run on their respective contracts.

While both players have so far struggled to fulfil their potential at Stamford Bridge, Fernandez insisted last week that there was more to come from him in future.

“I’m trying to get there, to the version of me that you saw at the World Cup,” the 23-year-old explained to Chelsea’s official site. “I want to feel like that Enzo, that was playing at the World Cup. I want to get back there.

“I feel good, getting better each day, but I still don’t feel like I’m at 100 per cent. I’m still adapting and still don’t feel entirely myself, but I’m trying to get there as quickly as possible and working hard every day in order to do so.

“It won’t be easy because the World Cup has been and gone, and I’m still growing as a player and developing my skills, but I’m looking for that Enzo. I want to feel completely myself again.”

Lewis Hall also had his contract extended last term, but joined Newcastle in the summer on as a season-long loan, with the deal set to become permanent in the at the end of the season for £28million.

The data on Fernandez, Mudryk and Hall’s contracts was part of the FA’s annual agent payments report, which was released last week.

That same report showed that the Blues paid a record £75.1million on agent’s fees over between February 2023 and February 2024.

Elsewhere Manchester City spent £60.6million on agent fees while Manchester United spent £34million. Liverpool saw £31.5million spent on agent fees while Arsenal recorded a £24.7million outlay.
