Fans think they’ve worked out the meaning of Ronald Araujo’s hand gesture after the Barcelona defender was sent off against PSG.

The Uruguay international was shown a straight red card after bringing down Kylian Mbappe, with the referee deeming him to have denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Barca had earlier gone 1-0 up on the night, having won 3-2 at Parc des Princes in the first leg.

But 11 minutes after the red card, Ousmane Dembele equalised for the visitors, before a brace from Kylian Mbappe in the second half turned the tie on its head and gave PSG the lead.

After Araujo’s red card, Fabrizio Romano posted a cryptic post on Twitter in which he posted three zoomed-in screenshots of a gesture the defender performed after the red card.

Romano captioned the post: “Ronald Araujo, not happy with his red card.” However, Romano did not explain the meaning of the gesture.

While the gesture left some fans confused, others attempted to work out what it meant in the comments section.

One wrote: “Araujo knows we were robbed!”

Another said: “It’s the below – meaning robbed.”

A third, meanwhile, joked: “He’s casting a Merlin type spell.”

And a fourth said: “He was trying to turn the time back.”

A fifth added: “Is this some sort of magical stuff?”
