Cristiano Ronaldo has won his legal battle with Juventus, it has been claimed.

Various reporters, including Sport Italia’s Tancredi Palmeri, have alleged that Juventus have been told they must pay former player Ronaldo £8.3million after losing an arbitration case to him.

In September Ronaldo, who now plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, decided to take legal action against Juventus over unpaid wages during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner wanted to be paid £17million, which was the net amount he was promised by the club when he agreed to defer his wages during lockdown.

Juventus players agreed to defer four months’ worth of wages in March 2020 and April 2021 due to the club suffering financially during the pandemic.

These deferred wages – formally known as salary manoeuvres – were reportedly never paid.

However, according to the Italian publication, Gazetta, the arbitration tribunal ruled that Ronaldo and Juventus shared responsibility over the matter. In turn, the club have only been ordered to pay half of the deferred wages.

Ronaldo left Juventus in August 2021, having spent three seasons there in which he scored 101 goals in 134 appearances. However, his time in Italy did not bring a Champions League to the Old Lady, as Ronaldo had anticipated

Upon leaving the outfit to complete an ill-fated return to Manchester United Ronaldo said on Instagram: “We wrote a pretty beautiful story together.

“I will always be one of you. You are part of my history, as I feel that I’m part of yours. Italy, Juve, Turin, tiffosi bianconeri, you’ll always be in my heart.

SPORTbible has contacted Juventus for comment on the claims.
